Mexican migrants in the U.S. sent more money home in 2020 to keep families afloat

Total remittances to Mexico rose 14% in 2020, to $41 billion from $36 billion in 2019, according to Bank of México — the vast majority of it coming from the U.S. That amounted to 4% of Mexico’s gross national product.
